Riding to School
So for the past couple of days (until the inner tube managed to rip - I swear these things are made of paper) Elliot Mason and I have been riding to school together.
He’s done pretty well with it considering 50% of the way we have to be on the road. Fortunately not a busy road. He is the “Leader” and rides in front, with me riding behind and slightly to the right of him to shield him from any traffic. I remind him to watch for parked cars and to keep as far left as possible.
It prompted a conversation with some other parents though as we waited for our little monsters to finish class - no other parent felt that their kid could ride yet even with them walking or riding very slowly next to them. I wondered about whether I was perhaps pushing EM too far, too fast - something I worry about perhaps a bit too often. Kids develop at their own pace and so far if he’s doing ok I should keep it up regardless of our other parents feel about it with their own kids.
